My third class for Level 3 of the Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) program, was All About Layering 7, which focused on stencils. When creating my card I was mostly inspired by the first lesson about creating watercolor effects. For this card, however, I didn’t do any watercoloring.
I initially started off with a much larger card base and panel than you see in the final images in the post. I was able to fit two complete roses and a half on it. That visually hurt my eye so I cut my card base and panel down before adhering it at the end. But let’s start at the beginning.
All products used are listed at the end of this post.

With my card I wanted to recreate the look of the example card from the lesson just without doing any watercoloring. In the lesson the leaves of the flower are directly stenciled on the card panel while the flowers are added on top with dimension.
I started by stenciling the leaves on the card panel using Firefly, Grass Field and Shadow Creek. For the roses I used a larger piece of cardstock and stenciled two roses using the first three colors from the Bubblegum Dreams Fresh Die Ink set and one rose with first three colors from the Shades Of Purple Fresh Die Ink set. I cut them out using the matching dies. However, when stenciling the roses I had them too close together, so when die cutting them, I ruined the rose in the middle and had to make one more rose.

I adhered the roses with foam adhesive to the card panel and added some gold splatters as I felt that something was missing. Gold splatter always helps.
For my sentiment I used on of my favorite bundles: Classic Greetings. I used black cardstock and heat embossed it with white.
