Today we’re focusing on Let It Shine in the sixth class for the Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP).
When I hear shine I think of hot foiling or heat embossing. This time I decided to go with heat embossing. This card came together pretty quickly. However, I struggled a bit with the sentiment but more about that later.
When heat embossing the first step (which is also the most important one) is using an anti-static powder on your card front.
All products used are listed at the end of this post.

I used my Stampwheel 2.0 to add the embossing ink to my card front. Since the stamp from the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Chocolate Flowers is slightly smaller than my card, I had to move the stamp and stamp again to cover everything. Once that was finished I added gold embossing powder and used it with a heat tool.
For the sentiment I used a stamp from the same set. I struggled adding embossing ink onto it as I would always get some ink in the lines of the letters. I got a little frustrated but then remembered I had an embossing ink pen in my stash and used that instead. The result is so much better than my previous ones.

My plan was to just add the sentiment to the card front and be done with it but I found that kind of boring. I cut a slanting piece about half an inch from my panel and added some foam adhesive to the back of it. I adhered the other two pieces that I now had onto the card base and moved them closer together from the top and bottom. This way you can’t tell it’s two pieces after adding the sentiment strip.
The steps to making this card were simple and quick but cutting your card into pieces and putting it back together turns your card into something not so standard.
